Service Manual Module; SENR4757; Delco Remy 21 Series Alternators.

Shipment of the above alternators is made with a temporary spacer in the normal position of the pulley. The spacer prevents the movement of internal parts during shipment.

Correct Orientation Of An Alternator During Installation

1. Position the alternator with the shaft horizontal when removing the spacer and installing the pulley.

2. Do not position the alternator in a vertical position with the spacer removed. Placing the the alternator in a vertical position may cause the rotor to move down and cause damage to internal parts of the alternator or damage the rotor.

3. Correct assembly of the pulley will position the rotor such that the internal parts are not susceptible to damage.
