Usage:
3508 ( 97Y656-Up ) Vehicular Engines
Description of Change: A new turbocharger group is used on the above engines. The new turbocharger will provide better performance characteristics.
Adaptable To: The new 8Q0080 Turbocharger Group is effective with 3508 Vehicular Engines 97Y671-Up. 3508 Vehicular Engines 97Y656-670 have been updated to provide the equivalent of the 8Q0080 Turbocharger Group. This turbocharger group includes the 4Q5958 Basic Turbocharger which is a TV8118-1.39 E-Trim turbocharger with an 89.46 mm (3.522 in) housing bore. The 4Q5958 Basic Turbocharger is a 9Y8266 Basic Turbocharger Group with changes to the 9Y8267 Cartridge Group. The changes to the cartridge group require using a new 9N2035 Dry Housing and 9N3701 Shroud in place of the former 7E9493 Wet Housing and 1N3751 Shroud.
The 4Q5958 Basic Turbocharger was used to replace the former 1W6551 Basic Turbocharger which is a TV8106-1.39 F-Trim with a 98.86 mm (3.892 in) housing bore. The 1W6551 Basic Turbocharger includes the 6N7960 Cartridge Group.
The components required to service a 4Q5958 Basic Turbocharger Group are listed in Charts A and B. Chart A lists the new and former housing components required. Chart B lists the new and former cartridge components required.
Housing components NOT listed in Chart A are compatible between 1W6551 and 9Y8266 Basic Turbochargers.
Cartridge components NOT listed are compatible between 6N7960 and 9Y8267 Cartridges.
