Start By:
- Remove the STIC steering control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Control Valve (STIC Steering) - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component. Thoroughly cleaning the exterior of the component will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.
Note: Put identification marks on all of the components of the STIC steering control valve as the components are being removed. All of the components must be reinstalled to original locations and the original orientation.
- Remove plug (4), spring (2) and valve (1) from cover (5).
- Remove shims (3) and the O-ring seal from plug (4).

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.
Spring force will be released when covers are removed.
Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
- Remove cover (5).

- Remove the O-ring seal from seat (6).
- Remove the five O-ring seals from cover (5).

- Remove valve spool assembly (11).

To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
- Disassemble spool assembly (11). Remove bolt (15) and the washers. Remove retainer (14), spring (13), spacer (12), retainer (18) and shims (17) from spool (16).

- Remove plug (23). Remove the O-ring seal from plug (23).
- Remove cover (24) and the O-ring seal from the valve body.
