Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the secondary steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Secondary Steering) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component. Thoroughly cleaning the exterior of the component will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

1. For assembly purposes put an alignment mark across the flange assembly and body assembly of the secondary steering pump prior to disassembly.

2. Remove eight bolts (2).

3. Remove flange (1).

4. Remove O-ring seal (3), two O-rings seals (4) and two back-up rings (5).

5. Remove lip seal (8) from flange (1).

6. Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (7) (not shown).

7. Remove lip seal (6) (not shown).

8. Remove two isolation plates (10) and retainer assembly (9).

9. Remove pressure plate (11).

10. Remove drive gear (12) and idler gear (13).

11. Remove pressure plate (14).

12. Using a seal pick, remove two isolation plates (16).

13. Remove retainer assembly (15), two O-ring seals (17) and two back-up rings (18).
