Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the STIC steering pilot valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pilot Valve (STIC Steering) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component. Thoroughly cleaning the exterior of the component will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Note: Put identification marks on all of the components of the STIC steering pilot valve as the components are being removed. All of the components must be reinstalled to original locations and the original orientation.

1. Remove two bolts (1) and cover (2).

2. Remove two bolts (3) and housing (4).

3. Remove two screws (5). Repeat for the other side.

4. Remove STIC steering control lever (6) from the steering pilot valve (7).

5. Remove two screws (8) from the rocker switch assembly.

6. Remove cover (9) for the rocker switch.

7. Remove ground bolt (10).

8. Remove two bolts (11).

9. Position rocker switch (12) out of the way.

10. Cut two cable straps (13).

11. Remove two nuts (14) and the washers.

12. Mark the location of the eight wires in connector (15).

13. Remove wedge (16) from connector (15).

14. Remove eight wires from the connector. For instructions on servicing Deutsch connectors refer to Special Instruction, SEHS9615.

15. Remove locknut (17).

16. Loosen setscrew (18). Repeat for the other side.

17. Remove base (19).

19. Remove two connecting links (21).

20. Remove dowel (22) and handle (23) from the steering pilot valve.

21. Remove bolt (25) and bracket (26).

22. Remove clamp (24) for the boot.

23. Remove two bolts (27) and spacer (28) from the steering pilot valve.

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury. To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.

24. Remove two capsule assemblies (29) from the valve body.

25. Remove spring (30), spool assembly (31), retainer (32), cap (33), and plunger (34) from each capsule assembly.

26. Remove pin (38) and retainer (35) from spool (31).

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury. To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.

27. Remove the screw, spring (36), and retainer (37) from retainer (35).
