Oil Pump

Usage:

Remove Oil Pump

start by:

a) remove top shaft (ahead)

1. Remove four bolts (1), elbow (2) and the gasket.

2. Remove four bolts (3), cover (4) and the seal.

3. Remove four bolts (5), elbow (7) and the gasket. Remove the seal from the elbow.

4. Pull cartridge (6) off drive shaft (8).

5. Disassemble and assemble cartridge (6) as follows:

a) Remove O-ring seals and back-up rings (9) from the cartridge.

b) Put a mark on pressure plate (11) and ring (12) for alignment at installation.

c) Remove two screws (10) and pressure plate (11).

d) Remove ring (12) and rotor assembly (13) from wear plate (14).

e) Remove the vanes and the inserts from the rotor.

NOTE: The pump rotation is counterclockwise as seen from the shaft end.

f) Install rotor (13) in position on the wear plate with the mark (arrow) on the rotor in the same direction as the drive shaft turns.

g) Install inserts (15) and vanes (16) in the rotor with the sharp angle of the edge on the vanes in the same direction as the mark (arrow) on the rotor.

h) Install ring (12) with the mark (arrow) in the ring in the same direction as the drive shaft turns.

i) Install the pressure plate (11) with two screws.

j) Install O-ring seals and back-up rings (9) on the cartridge as shown.

6. Remove two bolts (17) and remove ring (18) with tool (A).

7. Push drive shaft (8) toward the inside of the transmission to remove the drive gear and shaft.

8. Remove pump body (19) and the gasket.

9. Remove nut (20), the washer and gear (21) from the drive shaft.

10. Remove ring (22), bearing (23) and the washer from the pump body.

11. Remove the two seals from the pump body as shown with tool (B).

Install Oil Pump

1. Use tool (A) to install seal (1), lip down, even with the top of pump body (3).

2. Turn the pump body over. Use tool (A) to install seal (2), lip up, against the bottom of the counterbore.

3. Install washer (4), bearing (5) and the ring in the pump body.

4. Install shaft (7) in gear (6) with a washer and nut. Tighten the nut to a torque of 200 ± 25 lb.ft. (270 ± 35 N·m).

5. Install gear and shaft assembly (8) in the housing. Use a block to hold the assembly in position as shown.

6. Install pump body (3) and two bolts (9). Tighten bolts (9) evenly to push the pump body on to the shaft.

7. Install ring (12) on the shaft with tool (B).

8. Install seal (10) on elbow (11).

9. Install elbow (11) and the gasket with four bolts.

10. Install cartridge (13) on the shaft. Check to see that pins (14) are in alignment with the holes in the cover.

11. Install the seal and cover (17) with four bolts (18). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 150 ± 10 lb.ft. (205 ± 14 N·m).

12. Install elbow (15) and the gasket with four bolts (16).
