(1) Hydraulic filter

Hydraulic filter (1) is installed in the top of the hydraulic oil tank. The deck plates on the operator platform provide access to this component.

Hydraulic filter (1) is a combined suction and return filter. Oil from the return manifold is directed to this filter. The propulsion charge pumps draw oil from the outlet side of the filter.

The housing of hydraulic filter (1) contains a bypass valve. If the pressure differential across the filter is greater than 250 kPa (36 psi), the bypass valve opens. Then return oil flows directly into the hydraulic tank. A pressure switch in the filter base alerts the machine's electronic monitoring system when the bypass valve is open.

(2) Oil cooler bypass manifold

Case drain oil from the propulsion hydraulic system is sent to oil cooler bypass manifold (2). The manifold is located between the engine and the hydraulic tank. The door on the right side of the machine provides access to this component.

The ports of oil cooler bypass manifold (2) are marked for identification. Oil from the left propulsion motor case drain is directed into port "B" of the manifold. Oil from the right propulsion motor case drain is directed into port "D" of the manifold.

Oil from the right propulsion pump case drain is combined with case drain oil from the left feeder pump. This combined oil is then directed into port "F" of the oil cooler bypass manifold. Oil from the left propulsion pump case drain is combined with case drain oil from the right feeder pump. This combined oil is then directed into port "E" of the oil cooler bypass manifold.

Port "H" of oil cooler bypass manifold (2) is equipped with a pressure tap. Oil cooler inlet pressure can be measured at this tap.

The combined return oil from all of the hydraulic systems is sent out of port "TC" to the oil cooler. The oil cooler is part of the cooling package. The oil cooler is not shown.

Oil cooler bypass manifold (2) is equipped with a 103 kPa (15 psi) check valve. When the pressure differential across the oil cooler is greater than the value of the check valve, the valve opens. Then, the oil is returned directly to the hydraulic tank.

(3) Track tension manifold
(4) Needle valve
(5) Relief valve
(6) Check valve

Right track tension manifold (3) is located at the rear of the pump compartment. The manifold is on the right side of the machine. The left track tension manifold is mounted in the same relative position. This manifold is on the left side of the machine.

The charge pump in the right propulsion pump provides oil to port "P" of right track tension manifold (3). Inside the manifold, charge oil flows through check valve (4) and out port "C.". Oil flows from port "C" of the manifold to the head end of the right track tension cylinder.

Needle valve (4) is in a passage between port "C" of track tension manifold (3) and port "T" of the manifold. This valve should be closed during normal operation. When the needle valve is open, the head end of the right track tension cylinder is open to the hydraulic tank. In this case the tension in the right track is be released.

Relief valve (5) limits the pressure in the line to the head end of the track tension cylinder. If the pressure in the line to the head end of the cylinder reaches the relief pressure, the relief valve sends excess oil to the hydraulic tank through port "T" of the manifold. Check valve (4) prevents high pressure from venting into the charge circuit.

(7) Track tension cylinder

Each side of the machine is equipped with track tension cylinder (7). The right side is shown in Illustration 4. The tension cylinder is mounted between the track frame and the front idler.

Charge oil from the right propulsion pump is directed into the head end of track tension cylinder (7). The pressure in the tension cylinders provides the force which maintains the track tension.

(8) Brake solenoid
(9) Shift solenoid

Brake solenoid (8) and shift solenoid (9) are located on the auxiliary manifold. The auxiliary manifold is located under the operator platform. The deck plates provide access to these components.

The left operator control unit controls brake solenoid (8) and shift solenoid (9). The brake solenoid must be energized in order to release the parking brakes. When the shift solenoid is energized, the machine operates in the travel speed range.

(10) Brake release manifold
(11) Hand pump
(12) Needle valve

Brake release manifold (10) is located under the operator platform. The manifold is on the left side of the machine. The deck plates provide access to this component.

Brake release manifold (10) contains needle valve (12) and hand pump (11). When the needle valve is closed, the hand pump can be used to manually release the parking brakes.

(13) Pressure tap

Pressure tap (13) is located under the operator platform. The tap is on the left side of the machine. The deck plates provide access to this component.

The brake release pressure can be measured at pressure tap (13).
