New Hubs in the Output Transfer Gear Are Now Used {3159}

Usage:

735 AWR
Articulated Truck:
735 (S/N: B1N1-UP; AWR1-UP)
740 (S/N: AXM1-UP; B1P1-UP)
740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R1-UP; AZZ1-UP)

Description of Change: The new hub (2) has an improved surface finish that will help prevent the hub from wearing into the brass spacer (4).

The former 148-9444 Hub has been cancelled and replaced by the new 299-4250 Hub. This change is effective with the following machines.

  • 735 (S/N: B1N907-UP)

  • 740 (S/N: B1P2466-UP)

  • 740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R336-UP)

This change is adaptable to first production of the machines that are listed. Before this change is adapted to any machine, the following procedure should be performed in order to ensure that the change is necessary.

  • Change the oil for the transfer gear and replace the filter.

  • Immediately take an S·O·S sample of the levels of brass contamination and other particulate contamination in the oil system for the transfer gear as a baseline for a future test.

  • Operate the machine as normal and take a fresh S·O·S sample after 500 service Hours.

  • If the copper level has risen by 50 ppm since the test in order to establish a baseline for the copper level, then remove the output transfer gear in order to replace the 148-9444 Hub with the new 299-4250 Hub .

Note: Be sure to clean the chamfers on the pin holes for the planetary gears in carrier assembly (3) at this time in order to remove any burrs or sharp edges.
