Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Usage:

587R BXL

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
  2. Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for proper storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Drain".

  1. Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for proper storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic Tank - Drain".

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (3). Position adapter (2) out of the way.

  1. Place a suitable container under plug (4). Remove plug (4). Allow coolant to drain. Install plug (4) .

  1. Remove bolt (5) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device onto hydraulic oil cooler (7). The weight of hydraulic oil cooler is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). Remove bolts (6). Remove hydraulic oil cooler (7) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device onto hydraulic oil cooler (7). The weight of hydraulic oil cooler is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). Remove bolts (6). Install hydraulic oil cooler (7) .

  1. Install bolt (5) .

  1. Position adapter (2). Connect hose assembly (3).

  1. Install hose assembly (1) .

  1. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic Tank - Fill".

  1. Fill the radiator with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Fill".

End By: Install the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install".
