Start By:
- Remove the rear wheel, bearing, and Duo-Cone seal gp. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Wheel, Bearing, and Duo-Cone Seal - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Place a suitable container under tube assemblies (1) and (2) in order to collect fluid. Disconnect tube assemblies (1) and (2) .

- Place a suitable container under tube assemblies (3) and (4) in order to collect fluid. Disconnect tube assemblies (3) and (4) .

- Remove bolts (5) .

- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto brake (6) .

- Place a mark on brake (6) for assembly purposes.
- Remove retaining ring (7) and the shims.

- Attach Tooling (B) onto brake (6) in order to remove brake (6) . The weight of brake (6) is approximately 590 kg (1300 lb).

Note: Mark the orientation of the brake assembly on the spindle for installation purposes.
- Remove O-ring seal (8) .
