Improper assembly of the steering wheel can result in binding. The steering wheel action might be tight.

The former 5T-9261 Steering Wheel has a flat hub (1). If the former 5T-9261 Steering Wheel is installed on the machine, the 102-0070 Spacer (2) should be assembled in the 5T-6537 Steering Gear.

The new 5T-9261 Steering Wheel contains the new 125-3366 Steering Wheel and the new 8R-2916 Cover As. If the new 125-3366 Steering Wheel is installed on the machine, the 102-0070 Spacer should not be assembled in the 5T-6537 Steering Gear. If the spacer was installed on the machine, remove the spacer. The 125-3366 Steering Wheel has a hub (4) that contains a step that measures 9 mm (0.35 inch).

Refer to Illustration 2. If the machine contains the former 5T-9261 Steering Wheel, check the clearance between the steering wheel and the spacer. The minimum gap (3) between the steering wheel and the spacer should be 1.5 mm (0.059 inch). If the machine contains the new 125-3366 Steering Wheel, check the clearance between the steering wheel and the bearing. The minimum gap (3) between the steering wheel and the steering gear should be 1.5 mm (0.059 inch).

When you identify the steering wheel, use caution. The 5T-9261 Steering Wheel now contains the new 125-3366 Steering Wheel and the 8R-2916 Cover As. The part number for the 5T-9261 Steering Wheel will be on the packaging that contains the 125-3366 Steering Wheel and the 8R-2916 Cover As. For proper identification, locate the part number on the steering wheel.
