The extendable stick on some backhoe loaders has been assembled with a pad assembly that is smaller than the standard pad assembly. The dimensions between the inner box section of the stick assembly and the outer box section of the stick assembly may be too small in order to allow the standard 217-1577 Pad As to be installed when the stick assembly is rebuilt. This will not affect the wear rate of the new pads that are installed.
When you install a new pad assembly on the extendable stick, first try installing the original 217-1577 Pad As. If the original pad assembly does not fit in the existing space, then use the smaller 296-6542 Pad As.
Adaptable To: The new Pad As is adaptable to 416E (S/N: SHA1-796), 420E (S/N: HLS1-1416), 420E (S/N: KMW1-626), 430E (S/N: DDT1-315), and 430E (S/N: EAT1-425).
The new Pad As is effective in production with 416E (S/N: SHA797-UP), 420E (S/N: HLS1417-UP), 420E (S/N: KMW627-UP), 430E (S/N: DDT316-UP), and 430E (S/N: EAT426-UP).
