Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

There is a known issue that exists with the AccuGrade Version 6.0 software for Motor Graders. The issue and the associated work around the issue are listed below. For operator clarification of the software issue involving Lift + Cross Slope configuration, use the procedures listed below.

Lift + Cross Slope Configuration

The "Lift + Cross Slope" configuration is designed to use the sonic tracer as the control device for elevation. The sonic tracer is mounted at one end of the mold board. The sonic tracer controls that end of the mold board. The cross slope system controls the opposite side of the mold board. The system functions normally when both systems are in automatic mode. However, if the sonic control side of the mold board is placed in the manual mode, the system disables the cross slope side. The auto indicator for the cross slope function on the display continues to indicate that the cross slope system is still in automatic mode.

The above issue occurs when:

  • The operator is using the sonic tracer in order to follow an existing curb in automatic mode.

  • The operator is forced to place the sonic side of the mold board in manual in order to maneuver through a drive way or intersection.

Solution

The AccuGrade GPS/ATS system is capable of independent cross slope operation. When the above situation is present, the operator will be required to perform the following procedure.
