Left Side of Instrument Panel (1) Vibrator Switch |
Vibrator switch (1) is located on the left side of each instrument panel. The vibrator switch which is on the right instrument panel is shown in the above illustration. The position of the operator station selector switch determines if the vibrator switch which is on the right instrument panel or the vibratory switch on the left instrument panel is active.
Vibrator switch (1) is a toggle switch with two positions. The top position is the ON position, and the bottom position is the OFF position. The vibrator switch on the active instrument panel is wired in a series circuit with the vibratory switch which is on the right screed operator station. Both of these switches must be in the ON position in order for the vibrator to operate.

Right Screed Operator Station (2) Screed Vibrator Switch |
The right screed operator station is equipped with a screed vibrator switch (2). This switch is a toggle switch with two positions.
Screed vibrator switch (2) is wired in a series circuit with the screed vibrator switch which is on the active instrument panel. Similar to the switch on the instrument panel, the top position of the switch in the screed operator station is in the ON position, and the bottom position is in the OFF position.

Front of Center Console (3) Propel circuit breaker (4) Vibrator circuit breaker |
Propel circuit breaker (3) and vibratory circuit breaker (4) are located on the circuit breaker panel. This panel is located on the front of the center console. A decal on the panel below each circuit breaker identifies the function of the circuit breaker.
These circuit breakers receive power when the main power relay is energized. Propel circuit breaker (3) transfers power to the following components:
- Operator station selector switch (contact "2")
- Operator station status indicator on the left instrument panel
- Operator station status indicator on the right instrument panel.
Vibrator circuit breaker (4) transfers power to contact "30" of the vibrator enable relay.

Inside of the Center Console (5) "J1" connector (6) Number four operator station selector relay (7) Vibrator enable relay (8) Machine ECM (9) "J2" connector |
Number four operator station relay (6) and vibrator enable relay (7) are located inside the center console. Machine ECM (8) is mounted to the left side of the compartment.
Machine ECM (8) uses the input from the operator station selector switch in order to control number four operator station relay (6). When the operator station selector switch is in the LEFT position, this relay is de-energized. When the operator station selector switch is in the RIGHT position, the machine ECM energizes this relay.
Machine ECM (8) monitors input from components in the propel control system in order to determine if paving parameters are met. If paving parameters are met, the machine ECM energizes vibrator enable relay (7) after a short delay.
Note: The following conditions must be present in order for paving parameters to be met:
- The propel lever must be in the FORWARD position.
- The decelerator pedal must not be fully depressed.
- The propel mode switch must be in the PAVE position.
If any of these conditions are not met, the machine ECM will not energize the vibrator enable relay.
Machine ECM (8) has two 70-pin connectors. "J1" connector (5) is the top connector, and "J2" connector (9) is the bottom connector.
Illustration 5 | g01189023 |
Machine ECM (8) receives power from the machine ECM circuit breaker at the following terminals:
- "J2-1"
- "J2-23"
- "J2-47"
The machine ECM is grounded at the following terminals:
- "J2-2"
- " J2-22"
- "J2-46"
The operator station selector switch provides input to terminal "J2-30" and terminal "J2-31" of the ECM.
The software in machine ECM (8) analyzes the input signals and determines if an output signal should be sent to vibrator enable relay (7) and/or number four operator station selector relay (6) .
Based on the input signals, machine ECM (8) also determines which of the circuits to the operator station status indicators should be completed. The machine ECM completes the circuit at terminal "J2-33" when the operator station selector switch is in the RIGHT position. The machine ECM completes the circuit at terminal "J2-32" when the operator station selector switch is in the LEFT position.
