The engine ECM monitors the engine coolant temperature. The engine ECM also monitors the intake air temperature. The engine ECM passes the information to the machine ECM through the CAN Bus lines.
The EMS III monitors the resistance through the hydraulic oil temperature sender. The EMS III passes the hydraulic oil temperature information to the machine ECM through the Cat Data Link lines.
The machine ECM analyzes the following:
- Coolant temperature input
- Intake air temperature input
- Hydraulic oil temperature input
Based on this analysis, the machine ECM generates an output signal of between 85 mA and 105 mA from terminal "J2-49". This signal is sent to the cooling fan solenoid. The fan speed is inversely proportional to the strength of the output signal.
