Right side of machine (1) Cooling fan solenoid (2) Cooling fan manifold |
The cooling fan manifold (2) is located on the right side of the machine. The right, top cover provides access to this manifold.
The cooling fan solenoid (1) is installed in the cooling fan manifold (2). The machine ECM controls this proportional solenoid. This solenoid controls the amount of oil which is allowed to flow through the cooling fan motor. The strength of the signal from the machine ECM is inversely proportional to the fan speed, therefore, the lower the signal the higher the fan speed.
The cooling fan solenoid (1) contains an internal relief valve. The relief valve controls the pressure in the fan circuit. This relief valve can be adjusted in order to change the maximum fan speed. An increase in the fan pressure causes an increase in fan speed. Likewise, a decrease in fan pressure causes a decrease in fan speed.
