动力传动系 ECM (4) 接收变速箱控制（STIC 转向） (7) 发出的指示所选档位的接地信号
当自动换档控制开关（STIC 转向） (1) 移到手动位置 (2) 时，向动力传动系 ECM 提供接地信号。 动力传动系 ECM 监控来自升档开关 (5) 和降档开关 (6) 的信号，以确定操作员所选择的档位。
当自动换档控制开关处于自动位置 (3) 时，向动力传动系 ECM 提供接地信号。 当动力传动系 ECM 收到此信号时，动力传动系 ECM 将自动控制升档和降档。
自动换挡控制开关的位置表示自动模式下动力传动系 ECM 所选择的最高档位。 可以通过对动力传动系 ECM 编程来限制此选择。
