(1) Use Tooling (A) or (A1) based on requirements.

Note: The following procedure shows the front tire and rim on the right side.

Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct tire handling recommendations and tire inflation procedures.

Note: Before the tires and the rims are installed, thoroughly clean the wheel studs. Remove any paint, debris, or other contaminants.

Note: Do not apply any lubricants to the faces of the washers and the threads of the bolts.

  1. Use a tire handler to support the tire and rim. The tire and the rim weigh approximately 5,159 kg (11,373 lb).

  2. Install the tire and rim. Install two nuts (1) and the two washers. The two nuts and two washers should be separated by 180 degrees to hold the tire and rim on the machine.

    Note: When nuts (1) are installed, tighten the nuts to a torque of 1000 ± 125 N·m (738 ± 92 lb ft).

  3. Use Tooling (B) to install remaining 68 nuts (1) and the 68 washers.

  4. Lower Tooling (A) until the weight of the truck is on the front tires and rims. Remove Tooling (A).

  5. Lower Tooling (A1) until the weight of the truck is on the front tires and rims. Remove Tooling (A1). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1334, "Lift Stands (150 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A1).

  6. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the front tire and rim on the opposite side.
