Brake Control Valve - Disassemble

Usage:

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the brake control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake Control Valve - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove cable straps (2) . Remove bolts (3) from brake control valve (1) . Remove plate (4) .

  1. Remove washers (5) from manifold (6) . Remove manifold (6) from brake control valve (1) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (7) from manifold (6) .

  1. Remove nut (11) , washer (10) , and coil assembly (9) from cartridge valve (8) . Remove cartridge valve (8) from manifold (6) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (15) , screen (14) , O-ring seal (13) , and rectangular seal (12) from cartridge valve (8) .

  1. Remove nut (19) , washer (18) , and coil assembly (17) from cartridge valve (16) . Remove cartridge valve (16) from manifold (6) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (23) , screen (22) , O-ring seal (21) , and rectangular seal (20) from cartridge valve (16) .

  1. Remove plate (24) from brake control valve (1) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (25) from valve body (26) . Remove bolts (27) and (28) . Remove valve body (26) .

  1. Remove bolts (30) . Remove bracket (31) from valve body (26) . Remove bolts (33) and plate (32) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (37) , retainers (36) , springs (35) , and pistons (34) from valve body (26) .

  1. Remove plug (38) from valve body (26) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (42) from plug (38) . Remove spring (41) and spool (40) from valve body (26) . Remove plug (39) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (45) from plug (39) . Remove spring (44) and spool (43) from valve body (26) .

  1. Remove separator plate (46) .

  1. Remove plug (47) and the O-ring seal from separator plate (46) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (48) from manifold (49) .

  1. Remove nut (50) , washer (51) , and coil assembly (52) from cartridge valve (53) . Remove cartridge valve (53) from manifold (49) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (54) and (55) from cartridge valve (53) .

  1. Remove adapter (58) , O-ring seal (59) , and pin (60) from cartridge valve (53) . Remove seat (56) and ball (57) from adapter (58) .

  1. Remove dowel (61) from manifold (49) if it is necessary.

  1. Remove plug (62) and the O-ring seal from manifold (49) . Remove spool (63) from manifold (49) .

    Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

    Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.

  1. Remove retaining ring (64) , retainer (65) , and spring (66) from spool (69) . Remove O-ring seal (67) from stop (68) . Remove stop (68) from spool (69) .
