The following procedure is for setting the idler bearings. The procedure must be performed for the idler hubs on each side of the track. Repeat the procedure for the two idler hubs on the other side of the machine.

  1. Assemble the bearing end play within 0.03 mm to 0.13 mm (0.0012 inch to 0.0051 inch).

  1. The thickness of the retaining plate is 9.530 mm (0.375 inch).

  1. Use the 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) gauge block in order to measure the depth in three places.

  1. Tighten three 8T-8917 Bolts (2) to a torque of 18 N·m (13.5 lb ft) while you are rotating the roller.

  1. Loosen three 8T-8917 Bolts (2) and tighten three 8T-8917 Bolts (2) to a torque of 9 N·m (80 lb in) while you are rotating the roller.

  1. Measure the distance between the face of the gauge block and the spindle end with the depth micrometer. Take an average of the three measurements.

  1. Take an average of the three measurements from Step 6 minus the gauge block from the Step 3. Then, add 0.20 mm (0.008 inch) to the shim pack.

  1. Remove the gauge block and install the shim pack.

  1. install the retainer plate.

  1. Tighten three 8T-8917 Bolts (2) to a torque of 92 N·m (68 lb ft).
