Procedure to Check the Implement and Steering Neutralizer Valve

  1. Check the steering and implement neutralizer valve using the following procedure:

Be sure the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions.

Be sure the steering frame lock is in the stored position.

Fasten the seat belt before testing the steering and implement lockout systems.

  1. Park the machine on a level surface.

  1. Start the engine and raise the bucket slightly.

  1. Depress the service brake pedal to apply the service brakes. Disengage the parking brake.

  1. Release the service brakes.

  1. Move the steering and transmission lock lever to the UNLOCKED position.

    ------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death from crushing can result if the machine turns towards the operator's station door (left turn) with the door open.

Keep clear of the operator's station door and check the implement and steering lockout operation using a right turn only.

    ----------------------

  1. Open the operator station door approximately 200 mm (7.9 inch) and attempt to steer the machine in a right turn direction only. The machine should not move.

  1. Move the joystick control lever to all lever positions. The bucket should not move.

  1. Close the operator station door.

  1. Engage the parking brake. Lower the bucket to the ground and stop the engine.

NOTICE

If the bucket or the machine moved while testing the implement and steering hydraulic lockout system, contact your Caterpillar dealer. Have the dealer inspect and repair the implement and steering hydraulic lockout before returning the machine to operation.
