3300V/2400V Primary Taps Have Not Been Capped When The Third Transformer Is Installed For Use With EMCPII+ Control Panels

Usage:

GENERAL2400-4160V GENERATORS WITH EMCPII+ BUILT BEFORE MARCH 10, 2000

Problem:

Two of the three 2400V, 3300V, and 4160V primary taps for the C phase potential transformer (this transformer only installed when EMCPII+ is ordered in combination with 2400V-4160V generators) have not been capped at the factory. This applies to machines built before March 10, 2000 that have EMCPII+ installed.

Solution:

The below instructions illustrate how to properly cap the unused taps.

The unused transformer taps appear as in Figure A.

Figure A.

The end of the wire that makes up the transformer tap should be doubled over. See Figure B.

Figure B.

Apply varnished cambric electrical tape (5N-4685) to the wire end, making sure that the wire end is covered and the wire insulation is completely covered at least one inch from the wire bend. See Figure C.

Figure C.

Apply black vinyl electrical tape (5N-4686) over the cambric electrical tape making certain that the cambric tape is completely covered and that the vinyl tape extends one inch from where the cambric tape stops. See Figure D.

Figure D.

The unused transformer taps should be secured to the other transformer wiring with the use of tie straps. See Figure E.
