Description of Change: New engine oil coolers used on the above engines have rubber end sheets in place of brazed metal end sheets. The rubber end sheet design provides better reliability and serviceability than the previous design.
Adaptable To: The new 7W2164 Cooler Core Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 2W1008 Core Assembly on 3406B (7FB, 4MG, 8TC) Truck Engines. The smaller, 83.1 mm (3.27") diameter of the 7W2164 Core Assembly is specifically designed to provide the correct capacity for on-highway trucks with direct injection engines. The new 7W2164 Core Assembly is in effect with 7FB80639.
The new 7C3039 Cooler Core Assembly is a direct replacement for any other previous usage of the 2W1008 Core Assembly. The 7C3039 Core Assembly has a 112.5 mm (4.43") diameter and will be standard production for 3406B (70V) Vehicular Engines (D8N Tractors and 578 Pipelayers); 3408B (48W) Vehicular Engines (631E and 637E Tractors); and 3408 and 3408B (67U) Industrial Engines. The new 7C3039 Core Assembly is in effect with 70V23409 and 48W23925. The 7C3039 Core Assembly is available as an option on 3406B Truck Engines.
