Problem
Problems repairing the CX38 transmission have been reported.
Solution
The improved CX38 transmission repair/replace process authorizes any dealer that has a transmission test bench, obtains all the required tooling to perform the repair, and has reviewed the available resources in table 1 below, to rebuild the CX38 as their top repair option. Special tooling and assembly procedures are required for rebuild and transmission testing.

Any dealer that is missing the required tooling or has not reviewed the "Disassembly and Assembly" material along with the Channel 1 Video are unauthorized to tear down or rebuild any failed CX38 transmissions. These dealers must remove their failed transmissions and replace those with a Cat Reman 20R-6548 Transmission Arrangement if available. If the Cat Reman transmission is unavailable, complete the repair by using the new 518-9384 Transmission Ar (CX38).
