Description of Change: A clamp eliminates motion between the coolant bypass tube and the elbow at each end of the tube. This will prevent abrasion to the O-ring seals that seal the coolant bypass tube and the elbow.

Adaptable To: Use of the clamp in manufacturing for 3500 Machine Engines began on 29September 2003. The clamp is adaptable to the 3500 Engines that are in the machines which are listed above. Use the following procedure in order to install the clamps onto the coolant bypass tube. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.

Install O-ring seal (8) and ring (9) onto coolant bypass tube (3). Assemble clamps (5) onto bypass tube (3). In order to fasten the clamps, install the following components: bolts (6), washers (1) and nuts (7). Tighten the bolts so that the clamps remain in place on the tube.

Align the boss of clamp (5) with the bolt holes of elbow (4). Install two bolts (2) and two washers (1) onto the elbow. Tighten the bolts to 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft).

Tighten bolts (6) and nuts (7) to 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft).
