NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Position transmission (30) onto Tooling (E). The weight of transmission (30) is approximately 350 kg (771 lb).

  1. Connect harness assembly (34) .

  1. Connect hose (33) to transmission (30) .

  1. Install bolts (31) into transmission (30) .

  1. Position hub assembly (27). Install bolts (26) .

  1. Install hose assembly (21). Connect hose (20) .

  1. Position bracket assembly (17). Install bolts (18) .

  1. Install Tooling (D) to engine crankshaft (12) .

  1. Rotate engine crankshaft (12) in order to allow access to bolt (14). Install bolt (14) and washer (13) .

  1. Repeat Step 17 in order to remove additional bolts (14) and washers (13) .

  1. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to rear fender (10). Position rear fender (10) .

  1. Install bolts (11) .

  1. Lower the rear of the machine to the ground. Lower the front of the machine to the ground. Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) from the machine.

End By:

  1. Install the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the fan guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Guard- Remove and Install".
  3. Install the refrigerant compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Conditioner - Remove and Install".
  4. Install the engine enclosure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Enclosure - Remove and Install".
  5. Install the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
  6. Install the hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Oil Cooler- Remove and Install".
  7. Install the rear drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Rear) - Remove and Install".
  8. Install the front drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Front) - Remove and Install".
  9. Install the implement pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Implement Pump - Remove and Install".
  10. Install the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install".
