(16) Indicator for the status of the utility multifunction relay (UMR)

(17) Button for the "MAIN" screen

The screen that is shown in illustration 1 is displayed on powerup or by touching the button for the "MAIN" screen (17). The following items are displayed: voltage, frequency, power output and power factor. There are three indicators for the status of the system that appear at the top of the "MAIN" screen:

  • Indicator for the state of the system (2)

  • Indicator for the mode of the system (7)

  • Indicator for the position of the engine control switch (10)

An icon for the genset (1) appears on the screen. The generator bus (3) is illustrated by a display of one line. The utility bus (15) is also illustrated. The buses change color from a green bus to a red bus when the buses are energized.

The following icons are color coded for an indication of status:

  • Generator circuit breaker

  • Utility circuit breaker

  • GMR

  • UMR

The circuit breakers are green when the circuit breakers are open. The circuit breakers are red when the circuit breakers are closed. The protective relays are green when no alarm is present. The protective relays are yellow when an alarm is present.

The yellow text for the indicator for the "UTTR TRIP" (14) appears if the customer's contact closes. This indicates that a "UTTR" input is present.

The button for "START LOAD" (5) changes color from a black icon to a green icon when a start command is issued by the control program. A start command is initiated when either a remote start is present or a local start is present. The operator requests a local start by touching the button for "START LOAD" (5). A remote start signal is initiated by the installation of the external wiring for the "BASE LOAD START" or the "STANDBY START". See the schematic for the genset.

A remote start can only be initiated if the remote mode is enabled. The remote mode is enabled via the "SETUP" screen. See Service Information, "Setup Screen".

The status of the remote/local mode is indicated by the indicator for mode (11). The indicator for remote start enable (8) will be green if a remote start signal is present.

The control program issues a start command in order to start the genset when the button for "START LOAD" (5) is touched or when the circuit for the remote start is closed.

The setpoint for base load operation (9) is displayed on this screen. The setpoint for base load operation can be adjusted on the "SETUP" screen. See Service Information, "Setup Screen".

Table 1
State of the System
State     Description
"POWER-UP"     The PLC has received power and the PLC is initializing.
"ENGINE STOPPED"     No signal for a running engine is present.
"ENGINE STARTING"     An attempt to start the engine is being made.
"ENGINE RUNNING"     A signal for a running engine is present but no power is available.
"VOLTAGE AVAILABLE"     The engine is running and voltage is available. The generator circuit breaker is open.
"SYSTEM STARTING"     The generator circuit breaker is closed. The control program is transferring control to "STANDBY MODE" or the control program is transferring control to "BASE LOAD MODE".
"STOP/COOLDOWN"     The generator circuit breaker has been commanded to open because of a command to stop or the generator circuit breaker has been commanded to open because of a cooldown condition.
"FAULT/SHUTDOWN"     A shutdown condition is present. The ECS must be in the OFF position in order to reset.
"LOAD CONTROL"     The control for base load is regulating the output to the setpoint for base load. The circuit breaker for the utility is closed.
"UN-LOADING"     A command to stop is present or a cooldown condition is present while the system is in "LOAD CONTROL". The load is experiencing ramped unloading to the unload setpoint. The generator circuit breaker will be commanded to open.
"STANDBY CONTROL"     The generator circuit breaker is closed and the generator is producing power for the load that is attached to the bus. The utility circuit breaker is open.

The indicator for the state of the system (2) displays the current state of the system. Table 1 describes each state.

Table 2
Mode of the System
Mode     Description
"BASE LOAD MODE"     The control program is in "BASE LOAD MODE".
"STANDBY MODE"     The control program is in standby mode.

Table 3
Positions of the Engine Control Switch (ECS)
Position     Description
"ECS-OFF/RESET"     The ECS is in the "OFF/RESET" position.
"ECS-MANUAL"     The ECS is in the "MANUAL" position.
"ECS-AUTOMATIC"     The ECS is in the "AUTOMATIC" position.
"ECS-COOL DOWN"     The ECS is in the "COOLDOWN" position.

The indicator for the position of the engine control switch (10) displays the position of the engine control switch on the cabinet door. Table 3 describes each position.
