Rework Procedure

  1. Raise the machine. Block up the front end of the machine.

  1. Remove the front tires. Remove the existing pivot pins and remove the axles. Remove the tabs (5) that are located on the legs of the bolster.

  1. Bore the holes for the pivot pins for all three axle housings. The dimension is shown in Illustration 1.

  1. Install a 203-3904 Bearing into each end of each axle housing. The end of the bushing should be flush with the edge of the axle housing.

  1. Insert the pivot pin into the pin bore of each bolster. Slide a 207-5400 Boss onto each end of each pin. The pins are located on each leg of the bolster. Position the boss so the hole for the spring pin is in the vertical position. Tack weld the boss to the bolster. Weld from point (A) to point (B). Then weld from point (C) to point (D). Remove the pivot pin. Finish weld the boss to the leg of the bolster. Repeat this process for the remaining bolster legs.

Note: Do not weld the boss in place until the pivot pin has been removed. Overheating the pivot pin can cause nickel plating on the pin to flake off.

  1. Install the axle, the pivot pin, and the spring pin.

  1. Install the front tires.

  1. Remove the blocks and lower the machine.
