PM-465 Cold Planer Caterpillar

Machine Interlocks

Usage:

PM-465 5ZS
Machine interlocks prevent operation of the machine. The machine is not intended to operate under those conditions. Certain conditions will prevent normal operation. These conditions can appear to the operator as a system problem. The operator will become familiar with the interlocks over a period of time. An inexperienced operator can use the following guidelines to determine if the interlocks are preventing normal operation.

Starting the Engine

The engine will crank but the engine will not start:

  • The remote stop switches are depressed.

Propelling the Machine

Propelling the machine will not occur:

  • Engine rpm is less than 2000 rpm with the rotor engaged.

  • The service door for the rotor is open.

  • The parking brake is engaged.

  • The panel for the monitoring system detects a fault. An alert indicator will illuminate on the panel.

Manual Elevation

The front of the machine will not lower:

  • The rear is not first lowered below the service height. The indicator for the service height must be off.

Note: There are no interlocks for raising the machine.

Steering

Steering by the rear tracks will not occur:

  • The steering selector control was not in the REAR position at the time of starting the engine.

  • The service door of the rotor is open or the service door for the rotor has been opened.

  • The panel for the monitoring system detects a fault. An alert indicator will illuminate on the panel.

Control for Rotor

There is no engagement of the rotor under the following circumstances:

  • The service door for the rotor is open.

  • Engine speed is not at the low engine speed. The low engine speed is 1100 rpm.

  • The kickback ski is not set.

  • The panel for the monitoring system detects a fault. An alert indicator will illuminate on the panel.
