Torque Has Been Increased for the Cab Mounting Bolts {7266}

Usage:

65E 1GM
Agricultural Tractors:
Challenger 65C (S/N: 2ZJ1-1964)
Challenger 65D (S/N: 2ZJ1965-UP)
Challenger 75C (S/N: 4KK1-UP)
Challenger 75D (S/N: 5AR1-UP)
Challenger 85C (S/N: 9TK1-UP)
Challenger 85D (S/N: 4GR1-UP)
Challenger 65E (S/N: 6GS1-UP; 1GM1-UP)
Challenger 75E (S/N: 6HS1-UP; 1HM1-UP)
Challenger 85E (S/N: 6JS1-UP; 1NM1-UP)
Challenger 95E (S/N: 6KS1-UP; 1SM1-UP)

Description of Change: The cab mounting bolts may experience high loads when a tractor is used in construction applications. In order to improve the reliability of this bolted joint, the torque has been increased and thread lock has been added to the bolts at the factory.

Adaptable To: The higher torque and the thread lock is effective with Challenger 65E (S/N: 6GS934; 1GM219), Challenger 75E (S/N: 6HS915; 1HM604), Challenger 85E (S/N: 6JS919; 1NM503), and Challenger 95E (S/N: 6KS1243; 1SM506) Agricultural Tractors.

The cab mounting bolts that are on the earlier Tillage Agricultural Tractors can be tightened by using the following procedure:

Note: The service interval for checking the torque on the 1D-4643 Bolts is every 1000 service hours.

  1. When you perform the new procedure for the first time, first remove the bolts. Then coat the bolts with Loctite 272 or Loctite 271 (7M-7456 Bearing Mount Compound ).

  1. When you reinstall the bolts, tighten the bolts to a torque of 550 to 750 N·m (400 to 550 lb ft).

  1. Subsequent checks at 1000 service hours will only require checking the bolt torque. You will not need to remove the bolts.
