At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Use tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to place the cab assembly on the frame. The weight of the cab with heater and without side windows and a door is 185 kg (407 lb). Be sure that the mounting holes in the cab are aligned with the mounting holes in the frame.

  1. Install the two bolts and two nuts (13) on the rear of the cab.

  1. Use a suitable lifting device to raise the front of the cab.

  1. Place the cab support (12) into position.

  1. Install the two pins (11). There is one pin on each end of the cab support.

  1. Install the two cotter pins (10). There is one pin on each end of the cab support.

    Note: If your machine is equipped with two cab supports repeat Steps 4 to 6 in order to install the other cab support.

  1. Connect heater hoses (8) .

  1. Tighten hose clamps (7) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (4.4 ± 0.7 lb ft).

  1. Connect frame ground strap (6) .

  1. Install nut (5) .

  1. Install wire tie-wrap (4) .

  1. Connect two wiring harnesses (2) and (3) .

  1. Install two nuts (1) .

  1. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.

  1. Refill the coolant system with coolant. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7468, "Refill Capacities" for the 216, 226, 236, 246, 252 and the 262. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7494, "Refill Capacities" for the 267 and the 277.

End By: Lower the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Tilt".
