A Cover is Now Used to Protect the Cooling Fan Hub {1350}

Agricultural Tractors:
Challenger 55 (S/N: 6NN1-UP; AEN1-UP; 7TZ1-UP)

Description of Change: A cover is now used on the cooling fan hub for the Challenger 55 tractor engine. This cover prevents material from building up inside the hub.

Adaptable To: The new 163-0437 Cover is effective with Challenger 55 (S/N: 6NN507; AEN1012; 7TZ2623) Agricultural Tractors. The cover can be retrofitted to all earlier (S/N: 6NN; AEN; 7TZ) Agricultural Tractors.

Preparation

Note: You may need to move the radiator forward in order to access the fan.

  1. Remove four screws at location (B) .

    Note: The fan is removed for photographic purposes in Illustrations 1 and 2. You do not need to remove the fan from the tractor in order to install the new cover.

  1. Remove collet (A). Clean out all of the debris at area (C) around the fan.

  1. Check the torque for the six bolts at location (D) that holds the fan on the hub. The torque for the bolts is 28 ± 7 N·m (21 ± 5 lb ft).

Installation Procedure

    (2) 163-0441 Cover

  1. Position 163-0441 Cover (1) on the fan.

  1. Install four 163-0437 Screws (2). Tighten the screws to a torque of 12 ± 3 N·m (9 ± 2 lb ft).
