    Dial Indicator Position

    (5) Dial indicator

  1. Tap the output end of shaft (4) with a soft hammer in order to seat the bearing against the bearing retainer. This should be the approximate end play that is required.

  1. Connect dial indicator (5) to the housing and rest the indicator tip on the end of the shaft.

  1. Hold the housing firmly and pry the shaft auxiliary in and out in order to get an indicator reading. Note the amount of end play that is displayed on the indicator.

  1. Adjust the bearing retainer until the measured end play is within 0.15 to 0.23 mm (0.006 to 0.009 inch).

  1. Install retainer lock (2) .

    Rotor Handle

    (4) Spring scale

    (5) Handle

    (6) Distance

  1. Connect spring scale (4) to the handle (5) at distance (6). Distance (6) is 1370 mm (54 inch) from the center of the lever shaft when you measure the distance in a straight line.

  1. While you watch the indication on the spring scale, pull on the free end of the scale. Note the force that is required to engage the clutch.

Note: The force that is required to engage the clutch should be between 180 to 200 N (40 to 45 lb).

  1. Turn adjustment ring (3) clockwise in order to increase clutch pressure or turn the adjustment ring counterclockwise in order to decrease the clutch pressure.

  1. Install the adjustment lock.

  1. Replace the housing hand hole plate that is on top of the clutch housing.
