排气进入涡轮壳体的排气进口 (10) 时, 会推动涡轮叶轮 (5) 的叶片。 涡轮叶轮和压气机叶轮的转速达 90000 转/分。

在压气机叶轮 (1) 的旋转作用下,由空气滤清器过滤后的清洁空气被吸入进气口 (7) 。 压气机叶轮通过叶片的转动压缩进气。 压缩空气可使发动机的燃烧更充分,从而提高燃油效率。

涡轮增压器的最大转速由发动机的燃油输送电子控制装置进行控制。 发动机运转时,所处的海拔高度也会影响涡轮增压器的最大转速。

涡轮增压器的轴承 (2) 和轴承 (4) 使用增压的发动机机油进行润滑。 机油从进油管输送到顶部的进油口 (3) 。 然后流经涡轮增压器的中段油道,润滑涡轮增压器轴承。 最后,机油从底部的出油口 (9) 流出, 并通过排油管流回发动机缸体内。

另外,涡轮增压器的轴承套由水套水冷却液冷却。 冷却液从冷却液进液管进入涡轮增压器中段的一侧, 流经轴承套内的冷却液通道 (8) , 然后从中段另一侧流出涡轮增压器。 最后,冷却液沿冷却液出液管流回水套水散热器的顶部冷却液箱。
