    (5) Right charge relief valve test port

  1. Attach the 8T-0854 Pressure Gauge to the right case drain test port (3). Attach the 8T-0855 Pressure Gauge to the right charge relief valve test port (5) .

  1. Activate the parking brake.

  1. Start the engine and run the engine at high idle.

Note: The pressure gauge reading for the charge relief valve includes the case drain pressure. Use the following steps in order to obtain the pressure for the charge relief valve.

  1. Observe the pressure gauge reading for the case drain test port (3). Observe the pressure gauge reading for the charge relief valve test port (5).

  1. Subtract the pressure gauge reading for the case drain test port from the pressure gauge reading for the charge relief valve test port. The result should be 2550 ± 140 kPa (370 ± 20 psi).

Note: Record the pressure reading in order to use the value in the Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust".

  1. Place the engine in low idle and stop the engine.

  1. If the pressure reading was not correct, the charge relief valve needs adjustment. Loosen the locknut on the adjustment screw (4). As needed, turn the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise.

Note: One turn of the adjustment screw in either direction will change the charge pressure by approximately 345 kPa (50 psi).

  1. Tighten the locknut on the adjustment screw for the charge relief valve.

  1. After an adjustment has been made, repeat 3 through 8 in order to recheck the charge pressure.

  1. When the correct pressure is obtained, stop the engine. Remove the pressure gauge from the test ports (3) and (5) .

  1. Repeat 3 through 9 for the left charge relief valve.

  1. When the correct pressure is obtained, stop the engine. Remove the pressure gauges from the test ports on the left charge relief valve.
