Test Step 1. CHECK CIRCUIT "123 -WH-16" AT THE AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 6 and chassis ground at the AUTO/MANUAL switch.
Expected Result:
The voltage should be +battery.
Results:
- OK - The voltage measures +battery
Repair: Proceed to 2
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage is not measured.
Repair: Repair circuit "123 -WH-16".
STOP
Test Step 2. CHECK CIRCUIT "202-BK-18" AT THE AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 6 and terminal 2 at the AUTO/MANUAL switch.
Expected Result:
The voltage should be +battery.
Results:
- OK - The voltage measures +battery
Repair: Proceed to 3.
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage does NOT measure +battery.
Repair: Repair circuit "202-BK-18".
STOP
Test Step 3. CHECK THE AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 2 and terminal 3 at the AUTO/MANUAL switch as the position of the switch changes.
Expected Result:
The voltage change from +battery to 0 V as the position of the switch changes.
Results:
- OK - The voltage change from +battery to 0 as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Proceed to 4.
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage does NOT change from +battery to 0 V as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Replace the Auto/Manual Switch.
STOP
Test Step 4. CHECK THE AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH (continued)
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 2 and terminal 3 at the AUTO/MANUAL switch as the position of the switch changes.
Expected Result:
The voltage should change from +battery to 0 V as the position of the switch changes.
Results:
- OK - The voltage changes as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Proceed to 5.
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage does NOT change as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Replace the AUTO/MANUAL switch.
STOP
Test Step 5. CHECK THE AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH (continued)
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and terminal 3 at the AUTO/MANUAL switch as the position of the switch changes.
Expected Result:
The voltage should change from +battery to 0 V as the position of the switch changes.
Results:
- OK - The voltage changes as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Proceed to 6.
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage does NOT change as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Replace the AUTO/MANUAL switch.
STOP
Test Step 6. CHECK CIRCUIT "973–BR-16"AT THE ECM
- Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
- Remove the machine harness from the ECM.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and terminal 3 at the ECM as the position of the AUTO/MANUAL switch changes.
Expected Result:
The voltage should change from +battery to 0 V as the position of the switch changes from MANUAL to AUTO.
Results:
- OK - The voltage changes as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Perform the procedures of Troubleshooting, "MID 081 CID 0190" and of Troubleshooting, "MID 081 CID 0191".
STOP
- NOT OK - The voltage does NOT change as the position of the switch changes.
Repair: Repair circuit "973–BR-16".
STOP
