Window Wiper and Wiper Motor (Front) - Remove and Install

Usage:

TH82 3JN

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the steering column. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Column - Remove and Install".

  1. Put identification marks on all wire harnesses for installation purposes.

  1. Lift covers (1). Remove two nuts (2) and two washers (3) in order to remove wiper arms (4) .

  1. Remove six screws (5) and ease lower dash panel (6) downward. Disconnect electrical connector (7).

  1. Use a second person and support the wiper motor from the inside of the cab. Remove two plastic caps (8), two nuts (9), two plastic washers (10), and two rubber washers (11) .

  1. Remove wiper motor (12) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Install wiper motor (12) into the cab. Use a second person and support the wiper motor.

  1. Install two rubber washers (11), two plastic washers (10), two nuts (9) and two plastic caps (8) .

  1. Connect electrical connector (7). Position lower dash panel (6) and install six screws (5) .

  1. Switch the wiper motor to the ON position. Allow the wiper motor to rotate several times and then switch the wiper motor to the OFF position. The wiper motor will now be in the PARK position.

    NOTICE

    Push the wiper arm assembly straight onto the tapered shaft. If the wiper arm assembly is not installed straight when the shaft turns, the splines will be improperly formed and damage will occur.


  1. Install wiper arms (4) with the wiper blade 25 mm (1 inch) from the left side window seal. Install two washers (3) and two nuts (2). Close two covers (1) .

End By: Install the steering column. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Column - Remove and Install".
