    1. Measure the thickness of a brake disc (2) by inserting the FT-2504 Brake Wear Gauge through the oil filler plug hole (3) and between the plates of the compressed brake pack. Refer to Illustration 3.

      The minimum allowable thickness (S) is 4.50 ± .05 mm (0.1772 ± 0.0020 inch).

If the thickness of a brake disc is 4.30 ± .05 mm (0.1693 ± 0.0020 inch) or less, replace the brake discs.

    1. Disengage the brakes.

    1. Reinstall the filler plug.

    1. Repeat Steps 5 through 9 in order to check the thickness of the brake discs on the opposite side of the differential for the front axle. Repeat Steps 5 through 9 at each side of the differential for the rear axle.

Note: Repeat this procedure as often as needed in order to maintain the correct thickness of the brake discs.
