ReferenceSpecial Instruction, SEHS9575, "Procedure For Salvaging Off-Highway Truck Wheel Bolt/Stud Holes"

Optional service replacement studs for the wheels are available for the repair of the rear wheels and the front wheels.

The studs have a larger spline area. Drill the original hole to 28.575 mm (1.125 inch) for the new studs. The old procedure of welding the original hole, relocating the hole, and redrilling the hole is not required.

Note: Use the reference that is listed above to find the locations of the hole for each specific truck.

Table 1 shows the original stud, the original hole size, the optional service replacement stud, and the hole size that is needed for the replacement stud.

Note: Caterpillar does not recommend operating a truck with any broken studs, any missing studs, or any missing nuts.
