电磁阀接收来自动力传动系电子控制模块（动力传动系 ECM）的一个电信号。 电磁阀提供机械工作所需的液压油压。 当升档电磁阀 (1) 和降档电磁阀 (2) 启动时，电磁阀允许液压油流向旋转激励器。 液压油压转动旋转激励器，直到升档电磁阀 (1) 或者降档电磁阀 (2) 阻止液压流动。 动力传动系 ECM 保持电磁阀启动，直到从变速箱档位开关接收到正确信号。 旋转激励器与旋转选档器滑阀相连。 变速箱档位开关用一个柔性联轴节与旋转激励器相连。
当旋转选档器滑阀位于正确位置时，动力传动系 ECM 会阻止电流流向电磁阀。 电磁阀阻止流向旋转激励器的油压。 旋转选档器滑阀停止转动。 变速箱每次升档或者降档时都会产生此序列，除了处于空档时。 在空档位置，换档完成后动力传动系 ECM 会保持降档电磁阀 (2) 启动。
