A Guard for the Transmission Breather Can Be Installed {7153}

Description of Change: A guard for the transmission breather has been added to the transmission case. The guard keeps oil from seeping out of the transmission breather.

Adaptable To: The guard may be added to the transmission case of the machines that are listed above. Two holes will need to be added to the inside or bottom of the cover for the transmission in order to secure the guard in place over the transmission breather. Use the following procedure in order to install the guard.

  1. Remove the front portion of the preparation floor. Refer to the first six steps of the Disassembly and Assembly, RENR1654, "Preparation Floor - Remove" procedure.

    Note: Carefully remove the top cover. Springs are located below the cover.

  1. Remove twelve bolts (1) and top cover (2) of the transmission.

    (X) 9 mm (0.3543 inch)

    (Y) 39 mm (1.5354 inch)

    (Z) 28 mm (1.1024 inch)

  1. Use a drill press and Tool (E) in order to drill two holes in the top cover. The specifications are in Illustration 2. The holes should be drilled from the bottom of the cover. Use Tool (F) in order to tap the two holes for the 161-6266 Bolt (M6 x 1.0 x 12mm).

  1. Install plate (A) on the bottom side of the cover. Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound on bolts (C) and washers (B). Install the bolts and washers.

  1. Verify that the detent springs (5) are in the correct position.

  1. Install top cover (2) of the transmission and twelve bolts (1) .

  1. Install the front portion of the preparation floor. Refer to the first six steps of the Disassembly and Assembly, RENR1654, "Preparation Floor - Install" procedure.
