Assembly Procedure

1. Inspect the components of the fuel transfer pump for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

2. Clean all of the components before assembly.

3. Install seat washers (1) and (10) .

4. Push valves (2) and (11) into position.

   Note: It is possible for the valves to be installed incorrectly. Refer to Illustration 1 for the correct installation.

5. When valves (2) and (11) are installed, peen the edge of the valve housing evenly in six places. This will keep valves (2) and (11) in position.

   Note: Ensure that no metal debris remains in the pump housing.

6. Carefully install the following items on pull rod (6), which is under diaphragm assembly (9) .
   • washer (spring seat) (5)

   • stem seal (4)

   • spring (8)

NOTICE
Ensure that the small diameter at the top of the seal is on the round section of the pull rod.

7. Place diaphragm assembly (9) over the lower half of the body of the fuel transfer pump. Ensure that the blade of pull rod (6) is aligned with the slot of link arm (7) .

8. Press lightly on diaphragm assembly (9) until the notch in pull rod (6) is in the slot of link arm (7). Rotate diaphragm assembly (9) at 90 degrees in either direction. This will engage the pull rod (6) in the slot of link arm (7) .

9. Push the rocker lever toward the body of the fuel transfer pump. Push the rocker lever until diaphragm assembly (9) is level with the flange on the body of the fuel transfer pump.

10. Install the top half of the body of the fuel transfer pump and align the marks on the flanges. Keep pressure on the rocker lever. Install spring washers and screws (3). Tighten the screws evenly.

End By: Install the fuel transfer pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Transfer Pump - Install".
