(1 ) Koil evaporator khusus

Dalam sistem katup ekspansi, koil evaporator menerima refrigerant cair dari katup ekspansi. Dalam sistem pipa orifis, evaporator menerima refrigerant cair dari susunan pipa orifis. Refrigerant cair yang diterima oleh evaporator memiliki tekanan rendah dan temperatur rendah. Karena tekanan refrigerant cair rendah, temperatur saturasi refrigerant rendah. Pada temperatur saturasi, refrigerant berubah dari cair menjadi uap. Temperatur saturasi cairan meningkat bila tekanan cairan meningkat.

Koil evaporator terpajan ke udara di bagian dalam kabin. Panas dari udara di dalam kabin diserap oleh evaporator. Evaporator memindahkan panas ke refrigerant. Jumlah panas yang diperlukan untuk mencapai temperatur saturasi disebut panas laten penguapan. Bila panas ini diserap oleh refrigerant, temperature refrigerant akan mencapai temperatur saturasi. Refrigerant akan berubah dari cair menjadi uap. Refrigerant dalam bentuk uap meninggalkan evaporator. Refrigerant dalam bentuk uap akan membawa panas dari kabin. Refrigerant dalam bentuk uap akan kembali ke kompresor saat refrigerant meninggalkan evaporator. Proses ini berulang secara kontinu.
