Water Outlet Manifold - Remove

Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

  1. Disconnect sensor (1) from the wiring harness.

  1. Loosen clamps (3) and disconnect the inlet and the outlet hoses. If your application is equipped with a heater core, then loosen the clamps and then remove the hoses that are connected to the water outlet manifold for the heater core.

    Note: It is not necessary to remove the cover (2) and the water temperature regulator for the removal of the water outlet manifold.

  1. Remove six bolts (4) that hold the water outlet manifold in position.

  1. Remove water outlet manifold (5) and the gasket.
