Note: Check the condition of bearings (1) that are located in the end of cylinder body assembly (2) and in rod assembly (10). If the bearings are worn or damaged, install new bearings.

Note: Check the condition of all seals and components. If any of the seals or components are damaged or worn, install new parts.

1. Install O-Ring seal (7) and backup ring (8) on head (12) .

2. Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount Compound to the wiper seal groove prior to installing lip seal (9). Use Tool (B) to install lip seal (9) .

3. Install wear ring (15), seal assembly (14), U-cup seal (13), and lip seal (9) on head (12). Lightly lubricate the sealing lips with clean hydraulic oil.

4. Install wear ring (5) and seal assembly (6) on piston (16) .

5. Install crown (11), head (12), and piston (16) on rod assembly (10) .

6. Lubricate the threads on the end of cylinder rod assembly (10) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease. Use Tool (C) to install the washer and lock bolt (3). Tighten lock bolt (3) to a torque of 1825 ± 175 N·m (1346 ± 129 lb ft).

7. Use Tool (A) to install cylinder body assembly (2) on rod assembly (10) .

8. Lubricate the threads on the cylinder body assembly with clean grease. Install crown (11) on the cylinder body assembly. Tighten the crown to a torque of 600 ± 130 N·m (443 ± 96 lb ft).

End By: Install the bulldozer lift cylinders.
