Start By:

  1. Remove the gear pump (torque converter and parking brake release). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Torque Converter and Parking Brake Release) - Remove".

    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component. This helps to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Position gear pump (1) onto a suitable work bench.

  2. Mark the four sections of gear pump (1) for assembly purposes.

  3. Remove bolts (2) in order to remove plate (3) and the O-ring seal from oil pump cover (4).

  4. Remove bolts (6) and the hard washers. Remove bolts (8) and the hard washers in order to remove pump cover (7) and the O-ring seal from oil pump body (5).

  5. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove bearings (9) from pump cover (7).

  6. Remove gear (13) from pump gear assembly (11).

  7. Remove gear (13) from gear assembly (10). Remove woodruff key (12) (not shown) from gear assembly (10).

  8. Remove pump body (5) and the O-ring seal from pump body (15).

  9. Remove dowels (14) from pump body (5).

  10. Remove pump cover (4) and the O-ring seal from pump body (16).

  11. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove bearings (17) from pump cover (4).

  12. Remove pump body (16) and the O-ring seal from pump body (15).

  13. Remove dowels (14) from pump body (16).

  14. Remove gear (18) from gear assembly (11).

  15. Remove gear (18) from gear assembly (10). Remove woodruff key (12) (not shown) from gear assembly (10).

  16. Remove gear assembly (10) and gear assembly (11) from pump body (15).

  17. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove bearings (19) from pump body (15).

  18. Remove bolt dampers (20) from pump body (15).
