Fuel System Primary Filter - Clean/Inspect/Replace

Usage:

AP-1000B 7HN

------ WARNING! ------

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.

NOTICE

Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.

  1. Open the engine access covers.

  1. Loosen the filter housing retaining nut.

  1. Remove the element from the housing.

  1. Wash the element in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Wash the filter housing in a clean nonflammable solvent.

  1. Clean the filter housing base. Inspect the seal. Replace the seal if the seal is damaged.


    NOTICE

    Do not use a tool in order to remove the fuel filter. Attempting to remove the fuel filter with a filter wrench or a filter strap could damage the locking ring.


  1. Install the element and the housing. Torque the filter housing retaining nut to 24 ± 4 N·m (18 ± 3 lb ft).
