Charging dimensions for a suspension cylinder which has been purged
- Charge with oil ... 25.4 mm (1.00 inch)
- Full charge of oil and nitrogen ... 134 ± 6 mm (5.25 ± 0.25 inch)
Note: Use FT1680 Gauge Block in order to achieve the dimension for the full charge of oil and nitrogen. See Testing and Adjusting, "Suspension Cylinder (Rear) - Purge and Charge" for the charging procedure.
(1) Apply a coat of 5C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound to the pin prior to assembly with the bearing.
- Outside diameter of the Pins (four places) ... 57.061 ± 0.025 mm (2.2465 ± 0.0010 inch)
- Inside diameter of the Bearings (four places) ... 57.150 + 0 - 0.025 mm (2.2500 + 0 - 0.0010 inch)
(2) Valve assembly
- Torque for the charging valve ... 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft)
- Torque for the valve cap ... 4.25 ± 0.85 N·m (38 ± 8 lb in)
(3) Install the bearings so that the separation line (fracture plane) is aligned with the mark that is shown. The mark that is shown is the horizontal centerline of the bearing.
(4) Torque for the Relief valve ... 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft)
(5) Outside diameter of rod assembly ... 177.749 ± 0.050 mm (6.9980 ± 0.0020 inch)
(6) Inside diameter of head (two lands) ... 177.88 ± 0.03 mm (7.003 ± 0.001 inch)
(7) Inside diameter of cylinder assembly (two lands) ... 215.90 + 0.13 - 0.05 mm (8.500 + 0.005 - 0.002 inch)
(8) Outside diameter of rod assembly (two lands) ... 213.87 ± 0.13 mm (8.420 ± 0.005 inch)
Lubricate the sealing lip with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Note: Approximately 11.2 L (2.96 US gal) of SAE 10W oil with the current service classification is necessary in order to charge a cylinder.
The charging medium for suspension cylinder is dry nitrogen.
