Suspension Cylinder - Check

Usage:

773D 7CS
Make sure that the dump body is empty.

Stop the machine gradually on a level surface without using the brakes.

Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

Note: All of the suspension cylinders that are shipped from the factory receive a preliminary charge of nitrogen and a preliminary charge of oil. During field assembly, the suspension cylinders must be charged with nitrogen.

Front Suspension Cylinder

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can occur if personnel are trapped between the wheel and the frame.

The steering system is hydraulically controlled and wheels can crush personnel during movement.

Use caution when working between the wheels and the frame. If the wheels must be turned, ensure that all personnel are clear of the machine before any movement.

Check the front suspension cylinders against the dimensions from the last time that you performed the charging procedure. If you do not have those dimensions, the following dimension can be a guideline.

  • The exposed chrome of the cylinder should be 169.9 ± 6.4 mm (6.69 ± 0.25 inch).

Note: If the height of the front cylinder is NOT within the acceptable range, perform the charging procedure. See Testing And Adjusting, "Suspension Cylinder (Front) - Purge and Charge" for the charging procedure.

Note: There is a relief valve on the forward side of the front suspension cylinder. This relief valve is located 180 degrees from the lubrication fitting. Do not plug the grease passage of the relief valve.

Rear Suspension Cylinder

Check the rear suspension cylinders against the dimensions from the last time that you performed the charging procedure. If you do not have those dimensions, the following dimension can be a guideline.

  • The distance of the cylinder from pin to pin should be 975.6 ± 6.4 mm (38.41 ± 0.25 inch).

Note: If the height of the rear cylinder is NOT within the acceptable range, perform the charging procedure. See Testing And Adjusting, "Suspension Cylinder (Rear) - Purge and Charge" for the charging procedure.
