517 Track-Type Skidder Engine Supplement Caterpillar

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the water pump.

1. Remove bolt (9) and the washer. Remove gear (8) and bearing (10) as a unit.

2. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (C), and a hydraulic press to remove bearing (10) from gear (8) .

3. Remove snap ring (11) with Tool (B) .

4. Remove bolts (2), the washers, cover (1), and gasket (3) from water pump housing (14) .

5. Loosen bolt (18) by 6.4 mm (0.25 inch). Hit the bolt with a soft hammer in order to loosen impeller (15) on shaft (16) .

6. Remove bolt (18), washer (17), impeller (15), spring (4), and seal assembly (5) from shaft (16) .

7. Remove bearing (12) and shaft (16) as a unit.

8. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (C), and a hydraulic press to remove bearing (12) from shaft (16) .

9. Remove ceramic seal (6) and seal (13) from water pump housing (14) .

10. Use Tooling (C) to remove lip seal (7) from the water pump housing.
